Free Counted Cross Stitch Patterns and Graphs and Where to Find Them

!±8± Free Counted Cross Stitch Patterns and Graphs and Where to Find Them

Who uses free counted cross stitch patterns and graphs? Anyone who wants them, but there are many uses for these patterns. Free cross stitch patterns are often found on the Internet which is a great source for these patterns. Some people use these patterns to incorporate and merge them with other patterns and motifs to create a brand new pattern idea. These customized patterns are then either used for personal use or are marketed and sold with a new name or title.

A designer who specializes in free cross stitch patterns is Connie G. Barwick who presents patterns to the general public for personal use only. Also, a site called Better Cross Stitch Patterns.com offers very nice, unique free patterns. The atmosphere is very friendly there, and they go out of their way to make a stitcher feel at home.

Large companies like DMC and many others offer patterns without cost on their websites for both beginners and experienced stitchers. Their patterns include alphabet charts, floral patterns and animal charts. Here, the free patterns are used as an effective approach to get you into their site, download the free pattern(s), and perhaps they are hoping you might see other goodies you just cannot live without which leads to the anticipated purchase.

While some companies are very specific about your use of these patterns stating they are for personal use only, others will allow you to download the free pattern, stitch it, and then sell the finished stitched project for your own profit as long as you make the proper attribution to the seller by providing a link back to the seller's website. However, those of you who download these free patterns are discouraged from re-selling the actual free pattern itself.

People who cross stitch and use free patterns also like to trade and switch back and forth with other stitchers on cross stitch blog sites, thus creating a network of patterns that can end up with interesting variations (in colors) depending on how creative you are.

As far as designing goes, there are even sites out there like Cyberstitchers.com who have free graph paper for you to print off for use in designing your own patterns. Software such as PatternMaker has a library of free motifs for use in developing and designing a custom pattern.

Making of knots is the primary reason as to why Celtic cross stitch designs have become so famous and renowned when Christmas is round the corner. Celtic knots are if not fashion then a way of life certainly and its importance is utmost at the time of Christmas and the preparations. Celtic knots have become a culture that we are indeed proud of. Knots could be simple and complex too but whichever way you make them their elegance is for all to see and admire.

· Santa Claus

Christmas celtic cross stitch patterns are designed keeping in mind the advent of Christmas and there are various sizes and patterns to choose from. Patterns range from being simple to articulate, you can buy a convoluted design of Santa Claus that showcases a classy and intricate pattern.

· Candles

It wouldn't be hard for Celtic knot fans to imagine that on Christmas your candle stand be decorated with Celtic motifs highlighted with dark blue surroundings? The use of golden
metallic threads could infuse really attractive looks on a simple candle pattern or candle stand. I think you can imagine one right now.

· Christmas angels

Angels can be of different designs some standing alone whilst others in groups. The angel looks pretty alone and in-group too and can be bought in various sizes as desired leading up to a full wall sized figure. To sum up in short the bigger the size the better it looks as the intricate details with they are made shine like bright sunshine covering snow hilltop. Here I would like to add that if you are a first timer then small starting would be the way to build your angel.

· Lavender laces

Is there ever a British woman who hasn't fallen in love with lavenders? We have that fragrance in our bath soaps, our shampoos, deodorants, perfumes, room fresheners and ever more. So no surprise that we find something familiar in our embroidery designs. Wouldn't it look graceful if lavender were to adorn our napkins, curtain pallets etc.

· Wreaths

Wreaths are patterns that enrich our surroundings. It is easy to create a wreath of your likings. Patterns are mostly reflection of your mood, be happy and cheerful to make wreath that surprises you as well. Give it the season's best look.

· Alphabets

This represents the easiest option for starters. You can start by writing Marry Christmas in a traditional Christmas Celtic cross stitch method and you shall be amazed to see the end result. Try creating a design your initials or you favorite slogan. It will be simple yet stupendous idea. You can find help from chart generators to make alphabets as well, this will help you make own pattern in easier steps.

· Christmas trees

Take that extra effort to decorate and cover you green moss trees with tiny bells and other things. Taking little will ensure that your Christmas tree survives the full year and beyond.

Plaited Braid Stitch - Jacobean Hand Embroidery

Jacobean Double Plaited Braid Stitch - Hand Embroidery instructional video. Although I am a left-handed stitcher, you can see from this video the important stages in the construction of the stitch, crucially how to begin the stitch, how to look for the 'cross shape of the previous half of the stitch and how to keep the working thread out of the way while you locate the two lower 'feet' of the previous stitch to keep the woven surface structure of this classic design, in what appears to be 2 adjascent rows of 'purl stitches'. I've been promising on my blog to upload this film for ages. Hope its clear, you like it and its not too long.. Comments welcome. Remember, its actually a fast stitch to work and interesting plus it works well round curves. You can see examples of it produced in gold thread at the V&A Museum in London on Elizabethan sweetbags. It was a very popular stitch then. NB Sorry about my little slip of the tongue right at the beginning....lol (you couldn't plan a better Fraudian slip, could you?). Happy stitching !! I'll be posting more embroidery videos - only difficult stitches though... (if you're interested, the other example of hand stitching on my hoop here is 'Trellis' stitch, hope to do a video of that one soon).
